Building Huge Blog Lists
I don’t know about you but I am in the middle of building me a substantial list of blogs that I like to read for inspiration, motivation and not to forget links and traffic. Basically I have put the different blogs I monitor into groups which each have their own purpose. Some blogs fit into multiple groups and that is where things become a little tricky.
The groups are:
MUST READ
These blogs give me inspiration for posts or business opportunities. It can be difficult to monitor everything that is happening around the net but these guys seem to have most of the relevant stuff covered and therefore I need to know what they have learned.
These “must reads” will often still give me subjects that most other people still haven’t heard about and therefore I can still take the subjects and post my own version of the topic (and still pretend to be ahead of the game).
LINK & TRAFFIC BUILDING
Some blogs have a huge amount of visitors and subscribers and getting your comments read here can send substantial information your way (if you write good comments). Besides these high profile blogs I tend to visit blogs with either a “do-follow” tag enabled or with a Top Commentators plug-in installed. Both will give me backlinks to my blog and help improve my rankings. I’ll still try to create good comments in order to get more direct visitors from the blog’s readers.
FRIENDS
Over time the list of online blogging friends will grow and because I consider them to be friends I will naturally follow their blogging through RSS. On occasion I’ll drop by to say hello and leave a few comments as well.
All of the above is currently managed in Outlook’s RSS reader but as the list grows I can see that this will not be the best way to keep track of the blogs. So my question to you is:
What and How Do You Do It?
Most web hosting companies offer basic services like domain name registration followed by a bit of instructions on how to have the right web site design approach. One of the things you need to be aware of is that not everyone has a dsl connection. Some people still use a modem so you’ll have to make your site load fast for everyone. If you have sufficient funds you can hire a web design manager but if you have a small site you will have to do these tests and corrections yourself.

I use News Gator, but this week I’m fasting from RSS per Tim Ferriss’s request (however, I guess I’m kind of breaking that rule now, oops). When I am reading, I read about 10 blogs - John Chow, Shoemoney, Dosh Dosh are in the list.
Fasting from RSS *lol* Is it that bad? Well I’m glad that you picked my blog while fasting. I might check out news gator. Are you able to devide your feeds into sections?
[...] few days ago I asked you in my post How to Keep Track of Blogs how you kept track of your favorite blogs and their feed. Since then I’ve tried to find a [...]
I like how you organize your blogs. I think I’ll organize my blogs in a similar way. Right now, I’m using Bloglines.com and I have all my internet marketing blogs in one folder.
