Blogging Conversion Video Released by Yaro Starak

Yesterday the famous blogger and internet marketer Yaro Starak released a couple of videos as a warmup for his course called Blog Mastermind. The first video is packed with good and simple blogging knowledge and is definitely worth the watch. It is all free and you don’t even have to give him your name and email (you’ll only need to do that to see the second video).

Now I have to be honest that I’ve know of Yaro for a long time (ever since he became famous in the blogging industry) but I have never really paid much attention to what he is doing. Its not that I don’t want to have what he has but there has always been some other “guru” making millions and millions of dollars so why not listen to them instead of listening to a guy that “only” makes 6 figures a year?

After spending years listening to the guru and still not making millions (hint: it is not enough to just listen – action is required), I decided to spend some time finding out who Yaro is and what he does.

What I found is that he is a very down to earth guy and the things that he does it something that we can all do. You don’t have to be a brilliant genius to make it work. By following his advice consistently you will (over time) get the same results.

But I’ll let Yaro do the rest of the talking in his new video. Its about 30 minuters long so get yourself a nice cup of coffee/tea/soda etc. and listen to what he has to say.

MDW – Experiment – Make Money With It

I need you help hereI’ve recently bought a page at the Million Dollar Wiki site because I wanted to see whether it was possible to make some money from it. The purchase price for a page is $100 and that will get you a page this will not only get a fair amount of publicity through viral marketing but you’ll own it for at least 15 years.

Professional bloggers like John Chow and Shoemoney have bought pages as well and that was the tipping point for me. These guys seem to know what they are doing and I am pretty sure that if done correctly I’ll be able to get a decent amount of traffic to my page.

However I would really like to ask for your help. If you’re reading this blog I would appreciate it if you would give me a link from either your blog or any other site you might own with the anchor text of “Baby Boy Names”. As you might have guessed I bought the page Baby Boy Names for one single reason: TRAFFIC.

If you have ever used WordTracker for your keyword research you know that they do not exaggerate their statistics. I have often found them to be way less than I am actually seeing from the visitors that hit my sites. Using other keyword research tools I found figures of 2-3 million monthly visitors where WordTracker only shows around 70,000 visitors. If it’s possible to get just 10% of 2 million visitors to my site I would really have to give it some effort in order to not profit from it.

What will I do for you in return? I’ve not going to promise any prizes but I promise to give you a link from this blog to a site of your choice. Please submit a comment to this post if you have linked to my Baby Boy Names page containing:

1) A link to the page that is linking to it and

2) Anchor text and link to the page that you want me to mention here on the blog.

I would like to use my last words of this post to thank all of you who decide to help me try to accomplish this. I’ll need all the help I can get so feel free to post ideas and comments that will help me reach my goal.

Thanks.

My BlogRush Stats – Compared to John Chow dot Com

Now this might seem like an odd thing to compare but so far John Chow is the only blogger I have seen that has revealed his stats. I’ve tried to place the different stats from BlogRush “side by side” with John Chow’s to show you what you can actually achieve if you have a blog with enough visitors and you’re able to make enough referrals sign up through your affiliate link.

I’ll let you guess who has which stats *LOL*

The Graph

Credit Balance & Referral Network Stats

Activity by Generation

Syndication Activity

From what I can see it looks like my CTR is far better that John’s. I have a conversion rate of 0.826% whereas John’s is 0.333%. But well… he makes up for it in traffic :)

Do You Have Blogging Goals?

Setting goals is importantUnless you are an absolute newbie online marketer or a newbie/wannabe entrepreneur, you have probably heard it times and times again.

“You need to set goals and you must have a plan to achieve them.”

This is at least the essence of what it being taught by personal development coaches and almost all other successful internet marketer or offline entrepreneur.

But does this also apply to blogging? Well I guess it depends on what you want to do. A blog doesn’t have to become a business and if you are using your blog as a diary or a place to share family photos then you don’t have to spend that much time setting goals. That is unless you have committed yourself to write in your online diary every day or to post new family pictures every week. These things are goals as well and if you set them it is likelier for you to achieve them.

The reason that successful people, coaches and most other business minded people tells you to set goals is that it has been proven that if you set goals, focus and work on them, you change of actually achieving them increases dramatically. It seems logical to me but I have to admit that I can’t explain the psychological reason for it but then again, who needs to if you already know what it takes to reach your goals? It’s like the Nike slogan “Just Do It”.

Blogging Goals
If you are writing a blog in order to share your views with other people but at the same time create a small (or even a large) income along the way, then you need to set goals for your blog and after setting your goals you need a plan.

In a step by step process it’ll look like this:

1. Setup goals (quantify them and set a deadline)

2. Setup a plan on how to reach that goal (what it will require from you on a daily basis)

3. Work the plan consistently (don’t break you promise to yourself of working the plan) – Develop a “no matter what” attitude

4. Measure you achievements. Don’t just HOPE that you are on the right track. You must KNOW and if you are not then adjust and refine your plan and your actions

5. Celebrate when you reach you goal (reward yourself for a job well done)

6. Start again from point #1

Let me give you an example of how you can do this with your blog:

1. Goals for the blog

- Write 1 daily article about the blog’s topic. Minimum number of words 600. Must be done before 8pm (creating good content).

- Submit one 400 word article to Ezinearticles and GoArticles – Monday, Wednesday and Friday (linkbuilding).

- Comment on a minimum of 8 blogs per day. 2 of these blogs must be new to you (marketing your blog).

- Write 4 posts in an online forum within your niche (the niche of your blog) and remember to have a link to your blog in your post signature (marketing your blog).

- Think of one new way to make money of your blog each week + implement it if you find it to be a good idea.

- The goals are reached when: a) The daily amount of readers has grown with 300 people, b) The number of RSS readers has grown by 100 people and c) The monthly income has grown by $400.

2. The plan requires to keep a time schedule:

08.00-09.30: Write the daily article (1.5 hours)
09.30-10.30: Write and submit the article to article directories (1 hour)
10.30-12.30: Comment on 8 blogs (2 new) – requires reading + high quality comment (2 hours)
12.30-13.00: Lunch
13.00-14.00: Make 4 forum posts/replies – has to be high quality (1 hour)
14.00-15.00: Evaluate the day’s action and plan tomorrow (1 hour)

3. Creating a “no matter what” attitude takes time for most people and I encourage you to start on a personal development journey. Start reading some books, listen to personal development discs or attend seminars. The time and the money you spend will be so much worth it.

4. Once per week, once per month and once per year you must measure your achievements. How far did you go? Did you reach your goals? What was good and what was bad? Where do you need to improve and what did you do well? And remember to write it down for records. It will help you see that you have grown and expanded later on.

5. Go have a great dinner, Travel to some place you always wanted to go or Buy that new LCD Flat screen. Remember to reward yourself. It important to condition yourself so that your brain knows that hard consistent work equals pleasure when the job is done. It’ll motivate you to keep going.

6. You will probably begin to set new goals when you reach the once you have set up but do not skip point #5. Don’t just work, work, work… you NEED pleasure along the way in order not to burn out mentally.

Remember that the plan above is just an example of what you could do but I’m sure that if you followed the plan above for 4-6 months you would start seeing some great results. But you have to be CONSISTENT.

Actions must be taken every single day and if you know that there will be one day where you will have a hard time making it, then prepare and write all the articles in advance. You can even create your forum posts in advance. Don’t fall into the trap of “not making it today” but “wanting to make up for it tomorrow”. It is the ultimate “business killer” so don’t do it.

Wow… this was exactly 1,000 words but I hope that I have come across to you and that you will start using the things that makes sense to you. Good luck.

Free and Easy way to get additional targeted links

You may have noticed that Matt from BloggingFingers.com have launched an offer where he will exchange 2 links for one if you link to his one of his inner pages using the words “Web Hosting Packages“. I’ve decided to participate in this to help him reach his goal.

But you don’t have to stop there and I strongly suggest that you don’t. The fact is that because this offer require people to comment when they have linked back to his site you are actually getting a long list of people that are willing to link to other sites FOR FREE. That list is much more valuable than the links from Matt because instead of just 2 links you can now work on getting 20, 30 or 40 links from a wide selection of blogs.

All you need to do is find out what you will used those links for (you can even decide to make a post about it like Matt) and then you contact every single blogowner on the list and tell them that you are running a similar offer campaign and want to know whether they are interested in participating.

Do you think Matt is the only one that has tried this approach? If “no” then you have the option to search for an almost unlimited list of bloggers that are willing to link to your site in return for a link or 2.

Happy linkhunting :)

Use Your MBL Avatar to Attract More Visitors

Have you ever wondered what make you click on some avatars in the MyBlogLog lists and why there are others you never click? Something is definitely getting your attention and you can be sure that you are not the only one doing it.
Does this mean that you can attract visitors with a picture? It sure does and women have known it for years and I know for a fact that if the picture looks like a beautiful woman the likelihood of me clicking it is greatly increased.

But let me give you a few examples and tell you what I think of the three avatars that have recently visited my blog.

ThinkTechno

First one is from ThinkTechno.com and I honestly would not have clicked it if it weren’t for this post. Is it inspiring? No. Does it look like something that you find interesting? No. Do you become curious when you see it? No.
Could the person behind this picture get a better avatar and thereby get more visitors? Absolutely.

WrightHandBlogger

Next we have one that I really like and it is not because it is inspiring or looks like something that I find interesting but purely because I get curious. What is this colorful hand and why are the fingers in different colors? I must click to find out that it links to a blog called WrightHandBlogger.com. Nice avatar if you ask me.

Swimming Pool Man

Last but not least I took the picture from the guy behind the blog called something as difficult as http://myeasymoney.mybargaincity.info/. The reason I went for this avatar is solely because there were no pictures of beautiful women (bikini etc.) that had visited my blog recently. Will this picture get more clicks? I can’t answer for the female bloggers but I do think that some of them will be curious and click to see who this swimming pool guy is.

Have you ever thought of  how many visitors you miss out on because of your avatar?

What’s Wrong with Some Do-Follow Bloggers??

I recently came across a blog called GeekySpeaky and in a post about comment spammers the author tells us how she feels that even though someone leaves a good comment on her blog she will not approve it if the person uses a business name as the name tag.

Personally I think she is way off and I can’t really see the point of using do-follow it she is going to decide that only people wanting to get links using their name can be approved. Why can’t I get a link for either a certain keyword or my business name? I feel that if someone is contibuting in a constructive way to my blog that they should have the link love for whatever word or phrase they choose.

I do agree that the comments will have to be of a constructive nature and that posts like “great” and “good article” doesn’t add any value. But solely approving because of the name used is wrong (IMHO).

What do you think? And why?

Are You Linking to Questionable Sites?

How often do you check whether you are linking to sites that might not be in good standing with Google? Writing blog posts you can’t help to give out lots and lots of links over time but what if some of these links are starting to hurt your search engine ranking? Linking to banned sites will definitely not do you any good and the best you can do is to remove those links fast.

But luckily you don’t have to click every link and check your Google toolbar to see whether the site you’re linking to is good or bad. Using the Bad Neighborhood Link Checker Tool you can test your entire site in a matter of minutes (depending on the size of the site).

Are you part of a bad neighborhood?

The tool will provide you with information on what sites are good, medium or bad. The bad links will need to be removed at once but the questionable links will have to be checked manually. I’ve just tested some of my largest sites and luckily there wasn’t much that needed a change.

Is John Chow Only Commenting On you Blog Because of the Link Juice?

I found a comment made by John Chow over at NetBusinessBlog and to be quite honest I was a bit shocked at first but then I just didn’t agree with him.

I don’t know about you but personally I don’t comment on other people’s blogs with the sole purpose of getting Link Love.  First of all then most of the blogs I visit still use the no-follow tag so that won’t get me anywhere.  I have a purpose of commenting to share some of my knowledge and hopefully gain a little reputation on the blogs that I visit frequently.  I am a firm believe that if people like what they read in comments then they will follow the link (or at least some of them will).

Getting enough link juice?

John basically said that commenting on other people’s blogs were a waste of time or with his own words:

“Comments nowadays are almost useless, since most posters just want the link love. And because of the new fad, which is stealing pro-bloggers identities in order to gather curious clicks.”

I’m not a pro like John and I’m not saying that I don’t agree with his statement that

“Just create a damn good article and make JC, Shoemoney or Darren Rowse talk about it. Much more effective and less time consuming than spamming hundreds of comments”

isn’t going to save time and be a lot more effective but I do know that as a brand new blogger I’m not likely to do a brilliant article in my first attempt and in order for people to come to my blog it needs promotion.  Promotion is what I get by commenting on blogs.

Maybe I can look back on this one day and smile because I’ll be in a situation where I don’t need to comment on blogs to drive traffic or because I care about the blogger, but simply because of the link.  But “one day” seems far away so until then you’ll be seeing me in your blogs :)
