I have learned to set goals for myself
If you don’t set goals then now might be the time to start the process of goal setting.  The reason is simply that it is much easier to achieve your goals if you focus on them consistantly. On the other hand it you don’t set goals you’ll have a really hard time getting there and chances are that you might never make it.

One of my personal goals is making a decent income with Google Adsense.  I’m still new in that game and constantly learning new things but so far I have reached the goals I have set for myself.  I started using Adsense around June 2006 but for the first 5-6 months nothing happened (because I didn’t put much energy into it).

When I launched my first recipe site things started to change.  I began so see some nice CTRs and (even though small) Adsense income began to appear.  I kept working on that one website (1-2 hours a week) but still didn’t really know what I was doing.

Then in March 2007 I launched a couple of other niche websites and things began to happen.  It wasn’t large sums but it got me inspired.  Like the table that Al made over at Self Made Minds these are my goals.

  • Goal: $100/month (reached May 2007)
  • Goal: $150/month (reached July 2007)
  • Goal: $200/month (target August 2007)
  • Goal: $400/month (target sometime in 2007)
  • Goal: $1,000/month (target first half 2008)
  • Goal: $2,500/month (target second half 2008)

Do you think I get inspired when I setup these goals of trying to reach more than 10 times what I am currently making within the next 18 months?  You bet it does!!  Will I make it?  Well, if Al can do it then why not me? :)
