What’s Wrong with Some Do-Follow Bloggers??

I recently came across a blog called GeekySpeaky and in a post about comment spammers the author tells us how she feels that even though someone leaves a good comment on her blog she will not approve it if the person uses a business name as the name tag.

Personally I think she is way off and I can’t really see the point of using do-follow it she is going to decide that only people wanting to get links using their name can be approved. Why can’t I get a link for either a certain keyword or my business name? I feel that if someone is contibuting in a constructive way to my blog that they should have the link love for whatever word or phrase they choose.

I do agree that the comments will have to be of a constructive nature and that posts like “great” and “good article” doesn’t add any value. But solely approving because of the name used is wrong (IMHO).

What do you think? And why?

It defeats the whole purpose of Do-follow. I implemented it for the same reason as you. Worthwhile contributions get rewarded. If “Buy Viagra” posts something constructive and “Bob” posts some lame comment, she’s rewarding Bob for being lame. She may as well turn off linking all together.

    Great!

    Good article!

;) Just joking. I fully agree with you. Either you give, or you don’t. Not give, but only if…

That sounds really foolish to me. Why are people SOOOO afraid of sticking a link up for a site…. like just because a link shows up in one of their comments this means that the site will rank #1 in Google or something. Foolish.

P.S.- I see your blog really taking off! I am anxious to see your income stats after a few months.

But it seems to be something that many do-follow bloggers are worried about (from my experience).

Thanks John, I’ll post some stats soon but I’m travelling a the moment and the internet access is limited so I’ll have to a few days.
